OPC Tree logoWelcome to the Oxted Parish Council web site.   Whether you are one of the 10,500 residents of the Parish or a visitor, we hope you find the site both interesting and informative.
All of your Parish Councillors are proud of Oxted’s heritage with its open spaces, community spirit, and excellent range of facilities with a variety of housing both within the town centre and the surrounding countryside.
Oxted offers a comprehensive range of shopping facilities and restaurants together with a leisure centre and swimming pool.  Master Park, along with the playing fields at Mill Lane and Bushey Croft provide sporting spaces, for football, cricket, tennis and children’s playgrounds. The usual amenities such as a library, health centre and community buildings are available along with the local cinema, Barn Theatre and an excellent selection of schools. It has a mainline station with a fast service to London and good transport links to the rest of the country.
The Parish Council meets at 7.40pm on the second Tuesday in the month at Oxted Community Hall in Church Lane.  It is supported by a number of working groups including Planning, Burial Ground, Car Parks and Traffic, but the day to day business of the Council is carried out by the Clerk, Debbie Marshall.
We strive to maintain the character of Oxted but are aware that by its very nature the success of Oxted has led to a lack of affordable housing and increased traffic volumes, which is a major concern.
Master ParkTo support our vision of Oxted it is important that close links are retained with other Agencies.  In particular we enjoy a good relationship with Tandridge District Development Control, which handles planning applications, and the Community Service Departments, Surrey Police, Surrey County Council Highways and the Safe Routes to School Group.  These relationships are further enhanced, as three of our Parish Councillors are also Tandridge District Councillors.
We feel that value for money is vital at all levels of Local Government and, therefore we are proud that your Parish Council charge on the ratepayer is one of the lowest in the Tandridge District with the £25,000 precept representing only £5.10 per annum for band D ratepayer.
We value Oxted for its greenbelt, community spirit and village atmosphere and your Parish Councillors strive to protect our heritage and environment but at the same time look to the future needs of the wider community especially the aspirations of young families that are the next generation.
